JAMMU, Apr 1: Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmed Khan today informed the Assembly that ASHAs are being paid incentives on performance basis for rendering different services under NRHM and the incentives for ASHAs are revised every year as per the guidelines issued by Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry.
Replying to a Calling Attention Notice by M. Y. Tarigami, the Minister informed that Rs. 250 are being paid per case to ASHAs for full Ante-Natel Checkup (ANC) which includes registration of pregnant women within 12 weeks besides completion of 4 ANC, HB testing and ensuring provision of 100 IFA tablets and TT injection.
The Minister said that Village Health and Nutrition Day is organized once every month at Anganwari centres where ASHAs, Auxiliary Nursing Midwife and Anganwari worker mobilizes villagers, especially women and children for providing them services and counselling about maternal and Child Health Care. He said that ASHAs were never been paid nutrition charges on Village Health and Nutrition Days. However, he said they are being paid incentives of Rs. 150 per session for mobilization of drop out children for their immunization.
He said they are also been paid for facilitating in tracking the pregnant women and children and contact the health service providers. He said the mobile charges for ASHAs have been enhanced from Rs. 75 to Rs. 100 per month during the current financial year.
Tarigami in his Calling Attention Motion expressed concern over stopation of registration charges, VHND Nutrition charges, monthly meeting charges, reducing of existing delivery charges from Rs 600 to Rs. 350 per delivery and non-payment of Rs. 400 as post delivery check up charges in favour of ASHA workers.
