JAMMU, Aug 28: The inaugural Sawan Mahotsav in Jammu concluded with a splendid event at Panjvaktra Mahadev Mandir today.
This unique celebration featured classical devotional Bhajans, enriched with ragas, performed by renowned national and international classical singers.
Commenced on July 10, 2023, the Mahotsav opened with Tamil Nadu’s Pandits reciting Rudra Path associated with Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham at dawn.
In the evening, Seema Anil Sehgal, an esteemed classical singer, enraptured devotees with her performance, setting the tone for subsequent Bhajan Sandhyas. This festival secured a distinct place in Jammu’s cultural and spiritual landscape.
Renowned vocalists such as Vijay Singh Sambyal, along with disciples Dr Roshi and Ridhima Bajpai, Pankaj Pradhan, Dr Rakesh Kalotra, Dr Mukteshi Sharma, Dr Jasmeet Kaur, Pinka Bali, Ashutosh Sharma, and disciples Mohit Sharma and Rahul Sharma, Dr Kusha Sharma & Chinmei Sharma, and Poonam Sharma offered soul-stirring Bhajans dedicated to Mahadev.
Kathak performances by Dr Priya Dutta and her disciples from Nritanjali, along with a Bharatnatyam presentation by Pranabi Das Ghosh, added a sublime dimension to the Mahotsav, transporting the audience to realms of transcendental ecstasy.
The synergy between vocalists and accompanists S Amarjeet Singh on violin, Parshotam Kumar on Pakhwaj, Rakesh Anand on flute, and Vinay and Vijay on Tabla, amplified the performances into soothing mystical encounters.
More than five thousand devotees, including Mandir regulars and city music enthusiasts, thronged to the ancient Mandir during Sawan and Adhik Sawan, collectively creating a historic spiritual experience.
