JAMMU, June 3: All Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation has appealed the authorities to keep in mind various factors, which are responsible for poor performance of Government schools in recently declared BOSE examinations.
“The teachers are not solely responsible for the poor results but other factors, such as shortage of staff, poor infrastructure, political interference, poor monitoring and supervision of schools and negligible attention of the Government towards primary education,” said Mohan Singh, president of the Federation while addressing a press conference, here today.
He stressed that before punishing the teaching fraternity, the administration should be made accountable and responsible to raise the standard of education. We are not exempting teachers of their responsibility but the Government can’t escape its responsibility, he added.
Mr Singh lamented that all schools in rural and far-flung areas were under staff for many years while dilly-dallying tactics of Government regarding flagship schemes like RMSA, SSA and MDM were severely affecting studies in the schools. Even as the education at primary level forms base of subsequent education, the Government has been paying almost negligible attention towards primary Schools, he alleged and demanded transparency as well as accountability at all levels in the Education Department.
The Federation leader also highlighted some long pending demands of the teachers and said that the authorities should look into the grievances of teachers also.
The Federation general secretary Maheshwar Prasad, Ravinder Verma, Gulzar Hussain, Mohd Qasim and others were also present in the press conference.
