Dogri Sanstha has completed seventy-five years of its inception. Two quarters of a century is fairly good period of time during which men of learning versed in Dogri language served the mother tongue in its various aspects, prose, poetry, dramatics, historiography, criticism, and rational sciences? On the occasion of celebrating 75th year of its inception, the historical Dogri Sanstha felicitated outstanding personalities of Dogri most of them being the winners of Sahitya Akademy awards. The solid contribution of the Sanstha in this regard is that of maintaining the purity of the Dogri language and at the same time widening its scope by taking up a variety of social themes and subjects. We have produced excellent Dogri writers, poets, historians and dramatists and we owe a debt of gratitude to them for having enriched Dogri language and literature. We need to remember that literature is the mirror of a society as it is expected to reflect its bright as well as dark side. Dogri language has the potential to become a very effective and promising language and thus produce first rate literature in times to come. It is also of much importance that Dogri litterateurs are given due recognition and adequate financial assistance by way of awards so that they can devote their talent to the service of Dogri. The good thing about Dogri is that it has retained Sanskrit script which helps rapid growth of good literature making it easily communicable. But at the same time we share the despair of many Dogri litterateurs that it has not been made the medium of instruction in schools up to tenth class to say the least. We extend sincere greetings to the litterateurs whom the Sanstha has felicitated and hope they will continue with their excellent work of enriching Dogri literature.
