In-service doctors demand salary

JAMMU, July 24: In-service Doctors of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) urged the Finance Minister and Health Minister to release their salary pending for the last 15 months.
Addressing a press conference, representative of the In-service doctors, Dr KK Thakur said that they are the permanent employees of the Health Department and have rendered 5-20 years of services vis-à-vis 5 years of rural services and also rendered their services in the hilly and far flung areas of the State.
Thakur further stated that since the inception of PG course in GMCH, doctors used to get full salary who were In-service Doctors, but the same was stopped after the inception of their batch in May 2011, without any notice, which is great injustice to them.
He added that the batch which was selected in 2010 and are presently in the 3rd year of PG course are getting full salary, but the salary of 2011 batch was stopped, creating manifold problems to them and to their families in these times of high inflation. Thakur said that during their PG courses, which they are presently pursuing, they are not only learning specialized skills but in addition are regularly performing hospital duty, emergency duty, ward duty, OPD duty, day and night duties besides teaching the under-graduate students.
Among others present were Dr RC Sharma, Dr KC Gupta, Dr Rampaul, Dr Samriti Vyas, Dr Sushil Koul, Dr Seema, Dr Sunil Raina, etc.
