JAMMU, June 29: An impressive Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra was taken out here today.
The yatra, which started from MA Stadium was organized by Shree Jagannath Rath Yatra Sanstha, Jammu. Thousands of people drawn from different parts of Jammu participated in the Rath Yatra which was flagged off by Ashok Khajuria, BJP Legislative party leader.
The specially designed rath in which Sawari of Lord Jagannath was taken out was fully decorated by the devotees and people enroute paid obeisance to Lord and showered flowers on him. It was pulled by devotees. The people enroute served sweet water and fruits to devotees who had participated in the yatra.
The yatra passed via Vikram Chowk, Asia Hotel, G B Park, Gole Market, Apsara Road, Last More Gandhi Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Khalsa Chowk, Bahu Plaza Chowk and returned via Green Belt Park, Asia Hotel, Tawi bridge and culminated at Lord Shiva temple near Tawi bridge where a bhandara was served to devotees.
The devotees, enroute were dancing and reciting the bhajans in praise of Lord Jagannath. They showered flowers on Lord and paid.
The yatra was led by Sanstha president, Ravi Kant Swain and its vice president Raju Sharma.
The authorities had made elaborate arrangements for the yatra enroute. Talking to reporters Ravi Kant Swain said that earlier the yatra of Lord Jagannath was taken out in Jagannath Puri, Orissa only but now almost in every part of country the yatra is taken out.
He said people of Jammu have fully cooperated in taking out this yatra.
Meanwhile, the Rath Yatra of Bhagvan Shree Jagannath Ji was taken out in the Samba town also with full religious fervour today.
A large numbers of devotes including men, women and childrens participated in the yatra. The procession was accompanied by children in traditional dresses and bhajan mandalis. The yatra was conducted under the supervision of Parmanand Puri Ji Maharaj.
The Rath be started from Jagannath Temple Budhwani Samba and cultivated at National Highway Samba.
Hundreds of devotees participated in the yatra. Later, Bhandara was served at Jagannath Temple in Budhwani.
Among others Mahant Anoop Giri, Madan Giri, Kamlesh Puri were also be present in the Jagannath Rath Yatra.
