JAMMU, Oct 12: Impressive processions were taken on the occasion of Aashura the 10th Day of Moharram in different parts of Jammu region by Shia Sect of Muslims today.
In Jammu a procession was taken out by the Muslims of Shia Sect to pay tributes to Imam Hussain, grandson of Prophet  Mohammad and his companions who laid down their lives in the battle of Karbala for Islam.
As the Majalis procession was taken out from Ahaata Peer Mitha Sofi Shah thousands of mourners across the region participated in it . A Majalis was organized before the procession in which Maulana Syed Mohd Abbas Rizvi addressed the gathering. He stressed upon the teachings of Imam Hussain and Aashura symbolizes the struggle against the cruelty, injustice and tyranny of Yazeed. He further added that Imam Hussain achieved Martyrdom because of his devotion to eternal truth.
The mourners were reciting Nohas and Marsiah during the procession. After passing through the traditional route i.e Lakhdatta Bazaar, Rajinder Bazaar, Shaheedi Chowk, Wazarat road and culminated at Karbala Complex where Majlis Sham-e- Ghariban was delivered by Moulana Syed Mohammad Abbass Rizvi an Iranian Scholar.
A procession was also taken out from New Plots by Anjuman-e- Haidery New Plot that culminated and merged with the main procession at Imam Bargah Sofi Shah Peer Mitha.
A blood Donation Camp was also organized by Anjuman-e- Imamia Jammu in collaboration with All Ladakh Muslim Student Association Jammu to pay tribute to Imam Hussain  and his 72 companions who sacrificed themselves for the sake of Islam.
Addressing media president Anjuman-e- Imamia, Jammu Syed Amanat Ali Shah said that Anjuman is doing this pious duty of organizing Azadari in Jammu since long. “We should learn the lesson from the teachings of Islam through Imam Hussain and his companions in Karbala”. “The battle of Karbala is a struggle of truth against false hood, the battle against injustice and cruelty, the battle against the Tyranny of Yazeed the ruler of that time”, he added.
Imam Hussain and his 72 companions stood against all the evils and achieve martyrdom in the battle of Karbala to safeguard the values of Islam. Aashura is day in the history on which the blood got success over the sword.
Prof. Sujat Ali Khan secretary Anjuman-e- Imamia, Jammu while addressing media said that it is our duty to spread the message of Islam that has been gifted upon us by our beloved Prophet Hazrat Mohammad.  “The Ashura gives a message to entire humanity that whenever truth or righteousness is being suppressed and evil or false hood is promoted, we should never forego our responsibilities even though we need to sacrifice our self for the cause”, he added.
He complimented Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti for showing concern for the arrangements regarding Moharram and  Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali Minister (CAPD)  for convening the meeting to review the arrangements of Moharram. He also complimented  Muslim Federation, Jammu Muslim Front, Rajinder Bazaar Association, Lakhdatta Bazaar, Dogra Sadar Sabha, Dharmarth Trust and to all the prominent citizens for extending their full cooperation and support during the procession by installing different stalls as refreshment for the mourners. He also lauded the role of  Anjuman-e- Hiadery New Plots, Anjumna-e- Hussaini Bathindi, All Ladakh Muslim Students Association Jammu (ALMSAJ), Volunteers of Shaheed Muttahiri Library New Plots and people from Poonch, Rajouri, Chanderkot, Kashmir, Ladakh and Kargil for showing exemplary discipline during the procession.
The  Muharram concluded with Prayer for peace, tranquility, harmony and a sense of brotherhood in the world and especially in India and J&K.
Youme-e-Ashura was observed with great reverence and religious fervor in Doda district to pay rich tributes to Imam Hussain and his companions. In this connection, entire Doda town observed complete shutdown on the call given by Markaz-e-Seerat Committee Doda.
Earlier a large number of mourners assembled in Jama Masjid Doda where from the procession was taken out  which after passing through main Bazar of Doda culminated at Eidgah.
On the occasion of Ashoora All Ladakh Muslim Students organized a blood donation camp in association with Anjuman-e-Imamia at Karbala Complex near DC Office here where students from Ladakh and Kargil donated blood. The camp was supposed and undertaken with the help of Blood Bank Government Hospital Gandhinagar. On the occasion Akhbar Khan president of the Association along with over 60 students donated blood.
On the occasion of Muharram an impressive procession was taken out in Mendhar. The procession started from Muqaddas Higher Secondary School Mendhar and after passing through various localities it culminated at Imambara Sangla. The procession was led by Syed Munir Hussian Shah president Anjuman-e-Hydri Mendhar.
Another procession was taken in Gursai area from Gursai nallah to Harmutta in which a large number of Shia Muslims participated.
