Implementation of MFMS reviewed

JAMMU, Apr 19: A meeting to review the implementation of Mobile Fertilizer Monitoring System (MFMS) was held at Directorate of Agriculture, Talab-Tillo.
Director Agriculture, Jammu (Controller of Fertilizer, J & K), Dr S. S. Jamwal while speaking on the occasion, asked the companies to organize the awareness programmes for the wholesalers/retailers to sensitize and educate them about the Mobile Fertilizer Monitoring System (MFMS).
He directed the fertilizer companies to give dealer-wise details of wholesale supplies periodically and show their active involvement to make this system functional and effective. He further said that the implementation of MFMS will promote the off-take and timely availability of fertilizers to the farmers. The companies were also asked to help the wholesalers for provision of ID numbers to the retailers under their jurisdiction.
Earlier, outlining the various aspects of Mobile Fertilizer Monitoring System (MFMS), Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension) Ashok Malhotra said that the system will help in the effective monitoring and tracking the supply of the fertilizer to the farmers field. He further said that the main objective of the scheme is to provide subsidy directly to the farmers.
The meeting was also attended by C. M. Sharma, Deputy Director (Central)  Deepak Kachroo, ASCO, I/C Fertilizers, Pardeep Sharma, JAEO (Dev Sec), other officers of department, representatives of various fertilizer companies viz IFFCO, NFL, Chambal Fertilizers, IPL and wholesale dealers  including representatives from JAKFED/AGRO-Industries and Co-operative Marketing Societies.
