Implement JPC report on West Pak refugees: VHP

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Jan 13: Demanding immediate implementation of the recommendations of Joint Parliamentary Committee for permanent settlement of West Pak refugees and settlement of the demands of POJK refugees, Vishaw Hindu Parishad (VHP) J&K Unit has taken serious exception to the views of some anti national outfits of Kashmir over the issue.
Talking to reporters here, today VHP incharge Kashmir, Rajesh Gupta and its State general secretary, Dr Sham Lal Gupta asked the anti national organizations of Valley to close their mouth as they have no locus standi on the issue.
They said that the settlement of West Pak refugees with equal citizenship rights has always remained a prime agenda for all concerned. It is unfortunate that Government has failed to do justice with the West Pak refugees settled in J&K despite the fact that some members of the West Pak refugees who settled in other parts of country rose to the level of Prime Minister of India, they added.
They said it is a pity that J&K which allowed permanent citizenship rights to brides from Pakistan showed reluctance in granting citizenship rights to hapless West Pak refugees.
Making a dig at separatists, they said that the handful of separatist organizations which have limited mass base in Kashmir are trying to create a controversy over this issue and scare common masses with their outbursts. Moreover, some political parties which have tasted the public ire in the recently concluded elections are also trying to create unrest over the issue, they added.
Dr Sham said that the separatists and these political parties are creating fear psychosis among the people about demographic change when the fact is that these people were residing in J&K for over last 60 years.
VHP leaders have warned the separatists like Yasin Malik, Hurriyat hardliner, Ali Shah Geelani, Moulvi Umer Farooq and others to desist form such a biased propaganda against the West Pak refugees whom no power on earth can deprive of citizenship rights in J&K now.
The VHP leaders, while terming the separatists as anti India agents alleged that they on the one hand were opposed to settlement of victims of partition in J&K and on the other hand were patronizing and encouraging settlement of people from Bangladish and Mayamnar.
The VHP leaders demanded immediate identification and extradition of such illegal immigrants living in J&K. They said legal action should also be taken against those giving shelter to these refugees.
Dr Sham said the outbursts of Kashmir centric leaders who opposed the settlement of West Pak refugees in J&K have exposed them before masses and from their utterances it has become evident that their thought process is limited to Muslim community living in Kashmir and they don’t bother for the welfare of Hindus living in the State especially in Jammu region.
VHP warned to launch agitation in case the West Pak refugees are deprived of their basic rights.
