JAMMU, Nov 8: Joint Action Committee of Reserved Categories (JACRC) has urged LG of J&K UT to implement all Constitutional Guarantees meant for SC/ST/OBCs in J&K.
In a joint press conference attended by several socio-religious, retired, youth, women organizations of SC/ST/OBCs from various districts of Jammu province, the members of these organizations urged upon LG of JK UT Manoj Sinha to bring deeds and actions on same wavelength of the Government he is running in J&K on behalf of Central Government and implement all the guarantees as ensured in Indian Constitution for reserved categories, including reservation in promotions, Atrocities Act, Forest Rights Act and 27% Reservation for OBCS.
They further said that if abrogation of Article 370 has done some good for these communities the same shall reflect on the ground also. But unfortunately, the atrocities against SC/STs in J&K are fast adopting Bihar, UP, Rajasthan model and people are not being booked under SC/ST Atrocities Act. The members unanimously condemned the wrong policies of Central Government vis- a- vis J&K UT and ignoring SC/ST/OBCs in the process of Governance.
They also demanded that the Ruling of J&K High Court against Roshni Act must be challenged by the Government in Supreme Court as almost 25% of total beneficiaries of this scheme in Jammu Province were poor Dalits who were vested with the ownership rights under the said scheme. They also demanded arrest of all those organizational leaders who spread hatred on the basis of caste and religion.
It was unanimously resolved and requested to the LG of JK UT that instead of toeing with the lines of bureaucracy, he being a seasoned politician must act as a democratic head of JK UT and restore reservation in promotions and get the SC/ST Atrocities Act, Forest Rights Act and 27% reservation for OBCs implemented in J&K. JAC (RC) decided to hold a Maharally in Jammu in the month of December 2020. They also appealed to the people to vote against BJP in DDC elections.
Prominent among those who spoke in the conference included Prof GL Thapa, Mohinder Bhagat, Sham Lal Basson, Prof Kali Dass, Bodh Raj Bhagat, Dr CR Munday, Dr Haridayal, TC Bavouria, Inderjit, RK Bhagat and others.
