Impart proper training to all stakeholders dealing with juvenile justice: Justice Magray

JAMMU, Jan 17: Chairman, Juvenile Justice Committee, High Court of J&K, Justice Ali Mohammad Magray today stressed on imparting proper training to all the stakeholders dealing with juvenile justice in particular the staff members of Juvenile Homes and police personals so that they are sensitized to deal with the children in friendly and cordial atmosphere.

This was stated by the Justice Magray during his visit to the Observation Home, Children’s Home and Nari Niketan at R S Pura.
During his visit, Justice Magray interacted with the inmates and enquired about the facilities being provided to them. He exhorted upon the concerned officials to ensure that all the basic facilities including lighting system, clean and potable drinking water, food and diet along with upgraded infrastructural facilities including face upliftment, renovation, paint on walls, repairment and other construction works in the Juvenile Homes as are envisaged under the Juvenile Justice Act and Rules.
He directed the concerned that the cases of juveniles in conflict with law shall be taken on priority basis so that they are restored to their families as early as possible. He also directed the Juvenile Justice Boards to ensure that the provisions relating to bail of juveniles are implemented in letter and spirit.
He further emphasized upon the officials to repatriate the children to their families at earliest who are not involved in any offence and hail from outside the State and also directed to send back those children who have been directed to be restored to their families by the concerned Juvenile Justice Boards.
Highlighting the motive of putting the children in the juveniles, he stressed on giving proper education, art, craft, recreation and involving them in sports and boost their morale so that they can live a dignified life here after.
Chairman, Selection cum Oversight committee of Juvenile Justice, Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Director, State Judicial Academy High Court of J&K (Member Secretary Juvenile Justice Committee High Court of J&K), Abdul Rashid Malik, Commissioner  Secretary, Social Welfare, Sajad Ahmad Khan, Spl.DGP Hqrs, V.K Singh,  Mission Director, ICPS, Hilal Bhat besides officers civil administration  were also present.
