JAMMU, Mar 31: Jammu and Kashmir Unit of Indigenous Medicines Organisation (IMO) today welcomed the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s statement regarding AYUSH practitioners to pitch in to combat COVID- 19 but simultaneously, it has condemned the AYUSH Ministry for misleading the Prime Minister by saying that AYUSH drugs were not based on fact.
“The call given by the PM to AYUSH Doctors is a welcome step as it is recognition of this sector.,” IMO said in statement and adding that it was also fact that there was no permanent treatment of COVID-19 till date, only symptomatic treatment given by Allopathic System of Medicine while on other hand Ayurvedic medicine are more effective to boost the immunity and for symptomatic treatment of the deadly virus.
It claimed that Ayurvedic research is based on ‘Vata, Pitta and Kapha Dosha’. The certification from the ICMR and CSIR is a joke because both the agencies were not constituted on ayurveda concept.
They criticised the AYUSH Ministry for disregarding the great saint of ancient era like Maharishi Charak, Sushrut and Vagbhatta etc by saying that the AYUSH drugs are not based on scientific evidences. However, their prescribed medicines are in use since immemorial.
They further said that if ayurvedic drugs were unscientific, the question arise then why the Ayurveda department is operating. The Government should close AYUSH department and its Councils till the certification from ICMR and CSIR.
IMO demanded high level probe into the affair of AYUSH because untested drugs were being promoted in the country with vested motives.
