Illicit timber seized in Sopore, 2 held

SRINAGAR, Oct 6: Police in Sopore along with the officials of the forest department today seized illicit forest timber in the Ruhama Rafiabad area and arrested 2 accused persons involved in the crime.
Acting on specific information about timber smuggling in the Rafiabad area, a police party from Police Station Panzla headed by SHO PS Panzla along with the officials of the forest department at a checkpoint established at Ruhama intercepted a vehicle (Tata mobile) bearing registration number JKO5H 7897.
“On checking, the team recovered illicit forest timber from the vehicle. Two persons identified as Musadiq Farooq and Ubaid Farooq, sons of Farooq Ahmad Dar resident of Malganipora Pazalpora have been arrested,” police said.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 111/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Panzla and investigation has been initiated.
