Illicit timber seized in Rafiabad Forest Range

Srinagar, Aug 26: The Forest Department today said to have seized a large quantity of illicit timber along with three horses that were used for the transportation of the same in Rafiabad Forest Range in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The concerned officials informed that the attempts are being made to cut down trees by the scrupulous elements and transport them in sleepers with the help of horses and the same is being delivered to the consumers during night hours.
“But the department has established an efficient network of information to counter such attempts timely strikes are being carried out to thwart such attempts,” the officials said.
Regarding the latest seizures that have been made by the department, the officials said that during the intervening night of August 26, a party consisting was deputed after receiving input about illicit timber movement.
“The party intercepted horses loaded with illicit timber at Dogripora Rafiabad and seized Deodar 6no’s=12 cfts along with 3 horses during night hours,” the officials said.
