KATRA, Dec 27: Police foiled an attempt of liquor smuggling to the holy town and arrested a bootlegger, from the possession of whom, 170 pouches of illicit liquor were recovered.
At PCP Balni, on the intervening night of 26-27 December, a Santro car JK02AE- 5971 was stopped and during checking, the Police team recovered 170 Poly pouches measuring 250/250 ml each of J&K Excise liquor from the vehicle.
Police seized the liquor and arrested the car driver, who was identified as Hem Raj of Baggakot, Reasi. The car was also seized and in this connection, a case FIR No. 224/2016 U/S 48-A Excise Act, 188/RPC has been registered at Police Station Katra for further investigation.
