Srinagar, July 11: Police today said to have recovered huge quantity of illicit liquor in Kulgam.
In a statement issued here, police said that the officers from Police Station Qazigund under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund Govind Rattan established a checkpoint at Churat Qazigund.
“During checking, two persons boarding the vehicle (Santro Car) bearing registration No. JK18-0933 after seeing the Police party left their vehicle behind and escaped from the spot,” police said.
During the search, officers were able to recover 556 Bottles of illicit Liquor & 40 tins of Beer from the said vehicle. “Vehicle used in the commission of crime has been seized,” police said.
Preliminary investigation, police said, revealed the involvement of two persons identified as Nisar Ahmad Dar son of Ali Mohammad Dar and Reyaz Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar both the residents of Churat Qazigund. “Efforts are on to effect their arrest,” police said.
Accordingly, case FIR No. 172/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Qazigund and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
