JAMMU, Sept 28: A joint team of Forest Department, Police and District Administration Jammu in an anti-encroachment drive demolished several illegal structures on Forest land in Forest Compartment No. 4 of Bathindi area of Bahu Range which was illegally constructed and retrieved back five Kanal of forest land.
The operation was conducted by Forest team under the supervision of Anup Kumar Soni, DFO Jammu.
The team of Forest officials was led by Rakeshwar Singh Rana, Range Officer Bahu, along with, Salamat Ali, Block Officer Chowadhi, Maqbool Husssain, Rakeshwar Singh Khurhan B.O Bahu, Rakesh Dubey Incharge Anti Encroachment Team and other Forest field staff of Bahu & Jammu Forest Range.
Soni, mentioned that encroachers raised illegal tin sheds on Forest land in Compartment No: 4/Ch of village Bathindi. On the request of Forest Department, Deputy Commissioner Jammu and SSP Jammu deputed Naib Tehsildar, as Duty Magistrate and Police personnel to tackle law and order situation. Despite resistance the situation was handled with the assistance of Police and illegally constructed structures on forest land were dismantled and 5 Kanal of Forest land was retrieved. It is pertinent to mention here that most of these illegal structures were raised by Rohingyas.
