Sir,
The phenomenal growth in vehicle population is a cause of concern for Jammuites. As the city has shortage of parking places, people usually park their vehicles on road sides. This not only creates traffic jams but is also a cause of commotion on roads.
This problem is not confined to main city but its effects can be felt in newly developed colonies too where one can see vehicles eating away road space meant for pedestrians.
Some time back the Government had mooted a plan which envisaged that only those person are eligible for a vehicle who have parking space inside their compounds. The parking in lanes not only hinders smooth movement but often leads to brawls among vehicle owners.
One fails to understand why the Government shelved the above mentioned plan. Besides, there is urgent need to widen roads wherever there is scope for doing so.
Yours etc….
