IIT Jammu

Sir,
With the opening of IIT Jammu by HRD Minister at its temporary campus Paloura Jammu, a new era of quality technical education has begun in Jammu region. Earlier, we had only two institutions, NIT Srinagar and GECT Jammu for this purpose. Thanks to Modi Govt for giving us IIT without any agitation, as in the past nothing was provided to Jammu without people coming on the roads for the same e.g Central University and Jammu University came as result of long protest of student community. I hope soon a permanent campus will be built so that student will get all facilities as they come  here only after tough national competition.

Sir,
It is a happy development that IIT, Jammu has started functioning in the City of Temples. There should be no delay in setting up the permanent campus, as delay might affect the studies of students. The Government should make efforts to raise its level to international standards. There are many well reputed engineering institutes at the national level, but these have failed to find a rank among the best at international level. The students shall have best faculty and facilities to enable them complete  at international level. It is a national asset, and it should meet the needs of the nation which is still dependent to a large extent on foreign technology. For example, India does not have the required technology in defence sector. We rely on foreign countries for the same. Likewise, there are other areas as well where we are far behind other countries.
The need of the hour is that this should not be mere a structure of brick and cement, but a centre of excellence.
Yours etc…
