JAMMU, Oct 19: J.B.S Johar, former Chief Engineer and Vice Chairman India Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) J&K Regional Branch has been conferred this year’s Paul H. Appleby award for distinguished service to IIPA and to public administration in the country.
The award was given by Vice President, Venkaiah Naidu at 63rd Annual IIPA conference in New Delhi yesterday.
The award has been instituted by the IIPA in the name of Dean Paul H. Appleby, on whose recommendation the Institute was established in 1954.
Previous recipients of the award include N.N Vohra, Ex-Governor of J&K; Dr Karan Singh, Member Parliament; Veeranna Aivalli, former DG Police and founder Honorary Secretary of the J&K Regional IIPA Branch; Dr. Ashok Bhan, former DG Police and Patron of IIPA J&K Regional Branch and Dr S.S Bloeria, former Chief Secretary J&K and Former Chairman and Patron of IIPA J&K Regional Branch.
Born in 1948 Johar became Assistant Engineer in 1969 and superannuated as Chief Engineer PWD J&K in June 2006.
He completed PG in Business Administration and also served as Chairman of Institution of Engineers, J&K and Hony Secretary IIPA J&K Regional Branch.
He is presently the Chairman of Institute of Public Health Engineers, J&K Chapter and Vice Chairman of IIPA J&K Regional Branch.
His keen interest and dedication for good administration and governance made the J&K Regional Branch of IIPA a hub of various activities.
Johar is also recipient of several awards including Rashtriya Gaurav Award and Indira Gandhi Shirmoni Award.
He is also a Life and fellow Member of Institution of Public Health Engineers, Institute of Engineers Jammu Centre and Indian Roads Congress.
