IIM Jammu starts Ph.D in Management

JAMMU, Mar 29: IIM Jammu is starting the Ph D Programme in Management from the current academic year, commencing from May-June 2019.
According to Prof B S Sahay, Director IIM Jammu, the Ph D offers opportunities for advanced studies and research in different area of ‘Management’ like Finance & Accounting, Marketing, Operations & Supply Chain Management, Organisational Behaviour & HRM, Business Policy & Strategy, IT Systems and Analytics.
The Programme, aimed to prepare research scholars for careers in teaching and research in Management and related areas, offers a unique opportunity to engage in high-quality intra- disciplinary as well as interdisciplinary research.
The Research scholars will spend generally four years that include two years of rigorous course work. Course work in the first year provides a general management overview and develops basic skills for analysing managerial problems. In the second year, research scholars will take advanced doctoral level courses in the area of specialization; followed by the Ph D Thesis, for the next couple of years. The thesis is aimed to provide with an opportunity to make original contribution to an area of management.
Candidates who have requisite qualification and having valid score of CAT/GMAT/GRE/GATE/ JRF (two years from the date of the standard test on the deadline of submission of the application form, will be shortlisted on the basis of the details in the application form and the scores of tests. The shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews on 29th and 30th May 2019 at IIM Jammu Campus.
Full time Research Scholars will get scholarship which will cover all academic expenses. In addition, a research scholar in the first and second year will get a monthly stipend of Rs 30,000 per month. After the second year or after clearing the Comprehensive exam, whichever is later, scholar will get Rs 35,000 per month. In addition, the scholars will get contingency grant of Rs 40,000 per year) onetime purchase of laptop upto Rs 50,000, grants to attend international and national conferences up to Rs 2,00,000 during Ph D program after completion of comprehensive exam.
