JAMMU, Mar 30: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu has introduced Integrated Programme in Management (IPM), a five-year intensive course to blend the seamless transition from undergraduate to postgraduate level, closing with an MBA degree.
This was disclosed today by Prof B S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, while addressing a press conference. He said for screening and assessing the candidates for this program, IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya have launched a Joint Integrated program in Management Admission Test (JIPMAT), a National Level Test, to gauge the potential and suitability of the candidates.
Prof Sahay said, “An exam like JIPMAT will act like a rigorous, yet essential tool to identify the potential candidates for the Five-Year Integrated Program in Management (IPM). The purpose and vision behind the launch of JIPMAT in collaboration with NTA is that JIPMAT becomes single window entrance test for all the higher secondary school aspirants who would like to pursue management education”.
He said that the five-year IPM has been designed in alignment with the objectives of the NEP 2020. “First three years of the integrated course aims at multidisciplinary learning for the students. The first batch of the five-year intensive course will be a seamless transition from the undergraduate to postgraduate level, closing with an MBA degree comprising 60 seats in each institution, including a supernumerary quota of 10 seats for females,” he added.
Prof Sahay said it has been decided to launch a joint entrance test by IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya through National Testing Agency (NTA). He said the registration for the test would commence from April 1, 2021. “The first JIPMAT will be conducted on June 20, 2021, in 78 cities across India, and it will be an objective type computer-based test. The exam will be open for all candidates who have passed their Class XII examination in Arts, Commerce or Science stream, with a score equivalent to 60% (55% for candidates from SC/ST/PwD/Transgender) or more in the year 2019, 2020, or appearing in 2021,” he informed.
