SRINAGAR, Aug 4: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Syed Javaid Mujtaba Geelani today visited central Kashmir’s Budgam district and attended security review meet. The IGP also chaired a public meeting and addressed police personal.
A police spokesman said here that the security review meeting was attended by top security officers including Deputy Inspector General (DIG) central Kashmir Range, Ghulam Hassan Bhat, Superintendent of Police (SP) Budgam Fayaz Lone, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Budgam Javid Dar, Commandant CO 43 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Commandant 181 Battalion CRPF, Commandant 178 Battalion CRPF, all coy commanders of Indian Reserve Police 20th of Budgam District and all the Deputy SPs of Budgam.
The security review meet was held a day after police said that it busted a militant sleeper cell headed by a doctor, who is a resident of Chrar-e-Sharif in Budgam, and presently settled in United Kingdom (UK).
Meanwhile, IGP in his address in a public meeting said that main aim of conducting police public interactions is to solicit suggestion and support from the people about the eradication of criminal activates in the society. “While referring to the grievances highlighted by the participants IGP assured the participants that issues highlight by them will be redressed on priority basis. IGP also directed the SSP Budgam to open a grievance cell in Police Control Room Budgam where representatives of all the departments will be available to redress the grievance of their respective departments,” the police spokesman said.
IGP informed the participants that any complaint regarding the work and conduct of police should be brought into the notice of district SSP and in case no action is taken the same may be brought into his notice, the spokesman said.
Addressing a darbar of police officers and personals of the district, the IGP stressed upon cops to have a people friendly approach and urged them to have constant interaction with civil society members. “The IGP gave a patient hearing to the problems and grievances of the police jawans. He assured them that their genuine problems will be addressed at the earliest,” the spokesman said.
The IGP said that improving our conduct and behaviour during our interface with the public can go a long way in building conducive conditions to improve our services.
