IGP visits border areas, reviews security apparatus

JAMMU, July 18: IGP Jammu Zone, Dr S D Singh,  accompanied by  SSP Jammu  Sunil Gupta and SP Rural  Arun Gupta,  visited border areas of Jammu district  to review the security apparatus especially in view of the continuing intelligence inputs regarding possible infiltration of terrorists from across IB/LoC.
The IGP visited Police Post Pouni Chack, Border Police Post Kirpalpur, Police Post Gajansoo, Police Station Kanhachak, Border Police Post Garkhal, BOP Gakhral, P/S Akhnoor, Police Post Jourian, and Police Post Pallanwalla.
During the visit, he also interacted with BSF/Police officers and men deployed in the area and held threadbare discussion to ensure fool proof security measures could be ensured, particularly in view of ongoing Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra and forth coming “Independence Day” celebration.
Dr Singh also stressed upon the officers accompanying him that all routes leading to NHW from border areas be plugged and extra vigil be maintained, particularly in the wee hours.  He also directed field officer to brief the men deployed on the nakas appropriately and stressed for maintaining close co-ordination with all forces/intelligence agencies deployed in their respective areas so as to ensure that the nefarious designs of anti-national elements and their mentors across the border are defeated and peace and tranquility prevails in the region.
