JAMMU, July 4: After night halt at Jammu, “Rudra Ganga Dham Yatra” proceeded towards its destination of Dessa in Ramban district. The Yatra was flagged off by IGP, SD Jamwal, Vice Chairman, J&K SC, ST, BC Development Corporation Limited, Balbir Ram Rattan.
Chief patron of Yatra, Mahant Rameshwar Dass, president, Vijay Mohan Thakur, chief organizer, Hari Sharan Thakur, general secretary, Satish Wazir and chief advisor, Ashish Sareen, were also present.
The flagging off of the Yatra commenced amid chanting of religious slogans and beats of traditional musical instruments.
SD Jamwal, while speaking on the occasion, said that many Yatras round the year form part of life of the people of Jammu region. He said that Yatras carry a great significance in the life of various communities in the State as these work as uniting force. He also said that promotion and success of these Yatras will go long way in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood as well as promoting the religious and cultural values.
Balbir Ram Rattan said that such religious pilgrimages promote social equality and need to be organized in every part of the State. He said that the devotees while seeking blessings for their families and themselves should also pray for return of complete peace and normalcy in the State.
Mahant Rameshwar Dass said that one who visits this sacred place with pious mind and clean thoughts is freed of all the sins. The holy water from there clarifies all the evils from mind and soul. One who undertakes the Yatra with clear heart is surely blessed.
The Yatra starts from Panch Narayani Mandir, Kathua and passes through many religious places of Jammu, Udhampur, Doda and ultimately reaches Bhawan of Rudra Ganga on the first day of Guru Purnima.
