Jammu, Dec 25: Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh- reviewed the crime position and over all functioning of District Police Poonch with all supervisory officers including SHOs, investigating officers at DPO Poonch during his two days visit of the mountainous district.
Singh was accompanied by DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, Vivek Gupta – and Ramesh Angral, SSP Poonch.
During meeting a power point presentation was given by SSP Poonch, Ramesh Angral- on overall security scenario and crime of district Poonch. IGP Jammu Zone held a thorough discussion regarding working of Poonch Police especially crime, investigation, disposal of cases including under trail cases and other issues related to policing besides discussing necessary steps to be taken to control the crime rate and border terrorism.
IGP stressed upon the officers and officials to work professionally in the field of investigation and other aspects of policing. It was also said that modern policing is a challenge and we need to get ourselves prepared and familiarized with these challenges. It was impressed upon the officers and officials that we need to change the concept of policing and learn modern techniques.
He also stressed upon the officers not to compromise with the quality of investigation and directed them to have effective supervision of the matters dealt by police in their jurisdiction. He stressed upon the officers to speed up the investigation of all the pending cases and reduce pendency. Investigating officers whose performance was good were awarded with Commendation certificate Class-I along-with suitable cash reward.
Later on, IGP inaugurated the shaheed Manjit Singh Memorial Volleyball Tournament and distributed sports material under Civic Action Program of Jammu and Kashmir Police at Sports Stadium Poonch, which was attended by prominent citizens, sports lovers and children. Public has appreciated the role of Police in promoting sports activities in this border district under Civic Action Programme.
IGP along with DIG Rajouri-Poonch -Range held a Darbar and public interaction at Surankote. During Darbar he listened to the problems of Police and PMF deployed in the area. He appreciate the role of Police, PMF and army in maintaining law and order in the area and exhorted them to remain extra vigilant to defeat the notorious design of enemy.
