KARGIL, Apr 13: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ladakh SS Khandare inspected the measures for replenishment of essential commodities to Ladakh through Zojila Pass during his visit to Gumri Drass here today.
During the course of the visit, the IGP took stock of the road conditions as well the necessary arrangements been put in place by the Civil and Police Administration across Zojila axis for smooth and hassle free movement of trucks and tankers carrying essential commodities into Ladakh UT as per the protocols laid down by the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh.
The IGP was accompanied by IG, ITBP Deepam Seth and Joint Deputy Director IB Ashish Kumar Singh.
Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary , SSP Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar and SDM Drass Asgar Ali briefed the IGP Ladakh regarding the necessary arrangements been put in place as per the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to COVID-19 laid down by the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh.
The IGP Ladakh also visited India Gate to check the avalanches prone zones and sinking areas across the Zojila stretch and assured the DC Kargil that issues with related to the smooth movement of vehicles carrying essential commodities will be taken up with the Beacon authorities.
He also visited Meenamarg screening point to inspect the screening facilities for proper screening of drivers and additional staff of the trucks and tankers carrying essential commodities to Ladakh UT.
The IGP Ladakh while expressing satisfaction on the overall arrangements been made by the concerned authorities asked the officers concerned to work in close coordination besides to ensure strict implementation of the SOPs so that smooth and hassle free supply of essential commodities is made into Ladakh.
