JAMMU, July 24: Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone Rajesh Kumar during his visit to Rajouri today held a meeting with Dy Inspector General of Police A K Atri SSP Rajouri Mubassir Latifi, SSP Poonch Shamsher Hussain and senior Police officers of Civil and Army from twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
A threadbare discussion was held upon various security measures in the run up to 15th August and also to take stock of the progress of the security and other allied arrangements being made for the Independence Day celebration and for the forthcoming festivals i.e Eid-ul-Fitr, Raksha Bandhan, Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra, and Janamashtami.
IGP emphasized the need of strengthening counter infiltration grid as desperate attempts have been made from across the border to push militants on this side. Although all such attempts have been foiled but there is a need of maintaining utmost vigil not only on LoC but also in the hinterland. During the review of law & order he called upon all the officers to be vigilant and ensure that there is no law & order problem as there are some forces inimical to peace desperate to vitiate the atmosphere.
Later, an Iftar party was hosted by IGP Jammu in which all Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs participated. He also emphasized for cordial relations with Police for maintenance of peace, religious harmony and brotherhood in the area.
