JAMMU, Oct 12: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Dr SD Singh chaired a meeting of senior police officers here and discussed various arrangements required to be made for the National Police Day popularly known as Police Commemoration Day which is being observed on October 21 every year throughout the country in the memory of 10 Police Personnel (CRPF) who laid down their lives while fighting Chinese invasion at Hot Spring Ladakh during the year 1959.
The main function will be held at Police Martyrs Memorial, Rail Head Jammu, followed by National Police Day parade at Gulshan Ground, Jammu. During the functions rich tributes will be paid to all the martyrs of police force who made supreme sacrifice in line of duty for unity and integrity of country.
In addition, a blood donation camp will also be organized after the Commemoration Day parade at Gulshan Ground, Jammu.
While briefing the officers, IGP Jammu Zone directed them to put in their best efforts to ensure adequate logistical and security arrangements at the venues for smooth conduct of National Police Day function keeping in view the present security scenario.
He directed the senior police officers to spread awareness among the general public regarding the importance of the Day. He also exhorted the participants to ensure participation of police personnel as well as general public in large number on the day to acknowledge the sacrifices made by the martyrs and also to pay the homage to the martyrs.
The meeting was attended by IGP Armed, Jammu, DIG J&K Range, SSP Jammu, Commandant, IRP 14th Battalion (Nodal Officer), SSP Crime, Jammu, SSP Security, Jammu, Staff Officer to IGP Jammu, Commandant, IRP 18th Battalion (Nodal Officer), SSP Railways, Jammu, SSP Police Control Room, Jammu, SSP Traffic City, Jammu, SP City North, South, Headquarters, Rural Jammu, SP APCR, Jammu, SP Headquarters Telecommunication, Jammu, DySP DAR DPL, Jammu, DySP Estates, Jammu and DySP SDRF-II Battalion.
