IGP asks people to thwart nefarious designs of anti-national elements

JAMMU, Mar 28: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Dr SD Singh Jamwal visited holy town of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and reviewed security arrangements.
IGP was accompanied by Virender Sharma, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range and Tahir Bhat, SSP Reasi.
Accompanied by his team, Dr Singh checked all the frisking and checking points enroute Bhawan and interacted with the police and CRPF officials deployed enroute.
A security review meeting was also held by the IGP Jammu zone at Bhawan which was also attended by the officers of CRPF 6th Battalion.
Later, IGP also took stock of the security arrangements at Katra town and held a meeting, wherein the people of Katra put forth their problems including traffic congestion. They also raised the issue of begging in the town, which is rising day today.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Jammu zone exhorted upon the public to keep vigil on the anti-national and anti-social elements and help police to thwart their nefarious designs. He also issued necessary directions to the district police officers and sought cooperation from the civil society in eradicating the begging menace.
Sameer Kotwal, Additional SP Katra, Neelam Khajuria, SDM Katra, Mohit Raina, Tehsildar Katra and prominent citizens of Katra and its adjoining villages were also present on the occasion.
