IECS students’ new 4-wheeler with 2-wheeler components

JAMMU, May 12: Under an engineering college project,  the students of IECS, Purkhoo Camp, Jammu   have designed  a four wheeler by assembling the components of two- wheeler which runs on both petrol and LPG.
This  single-seater  vehicle with  two stroke engine,  has been designed and fabricated  in the college workshop without any  outside help in the project. The new vehicle consists of simplest type of  power transmission gear- box having 4-forward and 1-reverse gear attaining a maximum speed of 35Km/h .It gives mileage of 30Km/l on petrol and 35Km/l on LPG.
On being asked, Ajay Bhat, Lecturer (Mechanical Engineering ) of IECS college claimed  that the design of chassis is totally new, creative and flexible  as it can be assembled and dissembled within 15 minutes only. The project has been made by sixth semester students namely  Sahil Kumar, Ashutosh Tagotra, Mohd Imran Mir and  Shahbaz Mushtaq Dar under his guidance.
The  cost of the projected  4-wheeler  was estimated at  Rs. 20,000, said Mr Bhat.
