LONDON, Aug 22: International Dogra Society (IDS) along with Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD) showcased the crown of India, Jammu and Kashmir stall on India Day in London, United Kingdom.
Team IDS was represented by Lalit Sharma, Founder and Director IDS, Vikrant Gupta, Nakul Sharma, Sana Sharma, Tavishi Kamdar, Tia, Naitik, Abi Gupta and Vivaan Sharma.
Team GKPD was represented by Shafalica Bhan Kotwal and Deepak Koul.
The stall showcased Jammu’s Handicrafts made from straw from Kishtwar Binna and baskets and handmade Pakhi.
A booklet on Maharaja Hari Singh was also showcased along with popular Jammu region food items like Bhaderwahi Rajma, Udhampur’s Kaldai, Anardana and Jammu’s famous Sund.
Tavishi was dressed in traditional Dogri suit and Suthan with intricate Gota work, Dogri Shaneel suit was on display as well.
The stall backdrop showcased posters of Dogra Dynasty rulers Maharaj Gulab Singh, Maharaj Ranbir Singh, Maharaja Pratap Singh and Maharaja Hari Singh along with handmade posters of Dogra festivals like Bacch Dua, Pugga Da Vrat, Lohri, Rutt Radey etc made by Jammu’s talented artist Medhavi Sharma, they were specially couriered to London by Medhavi along with Takri script and Dogra Swar by Kusum Sharma Antra.
The J&K stall was visited by dignitaries including Deputy High Commissioner of India, Sujit Ghosh, Padamshri Bob Blackman Member of Parliament for Harrow East, Virender Sharma, Member of Parliament for Ealing & Southall, Amish Tripathi, famous author and Director of The Nehru Centre, London, Ravi Kishan, Actor & Member of Parliament for Gorakhpur.
Lalit Sharma, Founder & Director IDS, mentioned that it’s a matter of great pride to be able to showcase our beautiful Jammu internationally and specially on India’s 75th Independence Day celebrations.
