JAMMU, Mar 7: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages (JKAACL) presented an international programme ‘Percussions of Belgium’ at Abhinav Theatre, here.
On the occasion, Principal Secretary Forests, Environment, Ecology and Remote Sensing Rakesh Gupta was the chief guest.
Earlier welcoming the music lovers, Regional Director of ICCR, Balwant Thakur informed that this international music show is a part of ‘World Percussion Festival’ which ICCR is hosting in India by inviting best of the music bands from Russia, Belgium, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. Balwant Thakur further informed that, this is the 8th international group performing in Jammu after the inception of ICCR in Jammu.
Dalton Drum Syndicate of Brussels (Belgium) a popular group of Western Europe, took the Abhinav Theatre stage with tremendous energy as they played on four classic drum sets that were tuned differently. This was followed by a mix of French and Brazilian number. Surprisingly to have a direct connect with the local audience, they also played numbers having distant Indian influences. They culminated their performance with mesmerizing electronic numbers. Dalton Drum Syndicate is a four drummers band based in Brussels, Belgium. DDS was founded in 1999. This four member group included Maxime Lenssens, Renaud Van Hooland, Marc Van Eyck and Pat Dorcean
ICCR Jammu on the occasion honored the visiting Belgium artists and the felicitations were done by Rakesh Gupta, Principal Secretary Forests, Environment, Ecology and Remote Sensing and joined by Balwant Thakur, Regional Director ICCR, Jammu and Aziz Hajini, Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
Among others present were Aamir Ali, Executive Director and Secretary, JK Social Welfare Board, Arun Manhas, ADC, Jammu, RC Puri, Secretary Red Cross, Jammu, Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
The show was coordinated by Anmol Amla and anchored by Anil Tickoo. The vote of thanks was presented by Aziz Hajini, Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
