JAMMU, July 14: International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu, organized virtual talk on the theme, “Future of HRD: Emerging Organisations and Complementary Talent Pool” for the students, faculty, corporate personnel, research scholars and social scientists across Universities and academic institutions of India and world.
The objective of the talk was to seek expert insights into the role of Human Resource Development in building social and human capital not only limited to corporate and academia but across different marginalized sectors of economy, which can trigger the growth momentum of nation as a whole.
Professor T V Rao, Chairman TVRLS, Ex-Professor IIM-Ahmedabad, Founder Director, NHRDN and known as Father of HRD in India explicitly quoted that, “Human is not a resource but a possibility” with potential to build capacities and competencies across different contexts, henceforth making HRD more pervasive. He also unfolded the hidden tragedy by stating that we as corporates and academia have missed a golden opportunity of making an impact and lifting human resource developers to a position of strategic thinkers, business partners, leaders and change managers, by recognizing HRD more as a Human Resource Department, rather than Human Resource Development over the years.
Professor T V Rao deliberated the scope of HRD in the areas of society management, governance management, community management and Capability building. He addressed attendees that HRD refers to ability to make choices, creating opportunities for others, knowledge application across domains, discovering capabilities, volunteerism and creation of human possibility volunteers. He further addressed that micro level engagements with people across marginalized domains i.e rural hinterlands is the future of HRD, thereby making HR function not a corporate vertical but an enabler of socio-economic development.
Professor Neetu Andotra, Registrar, JU and Director, International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), JU expressed the need for collaborating with world class human resources thereby maintaining the quality of deliverance of world class education which is critical for development of human resources for future workplaces.
