JAMMU, Nov 24: Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), New Delhi, has sanctioned Organic Training Centre to Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu, under Pandit Deen Dayal Upadaya Unnat Krishi Shiksha Yojana.
SKUAST-Jammu has been designated to open the training centres for farmers in the constituencies of Central Cabinet Ministers under “Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana” to train farmers in organic farming/natural farming/cow based economy. ICAR New Delhi, shall coordinate the activities with SKUAST-Jammu, mainly in the area of Agriculture Husbandry.
The mandate of the training centres shall be to orzanize training programmes for updating the knowledge of farmers on organic agriculture and animal husbandry practices. SKUAST-Jammu has identified village Talwara of Reasi district for the establishment of this training centre. The village has been adopted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Reasi as organic crops with certification. The farmers of the village shall be used as ‘Master Trainers’ in imparting trainings to the farmers of other areas.
