JAMMU, Sept 10: Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in association with Department of Commercial Taxes (DCT) organised a training session on proposed Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act.
CA Rohini Aggarwal, CA HL Madan and CA Varinder Chowhan were the guest faculty on the occasion.
In the first session, the training of officers of Department including Deputy Commissioners, CTOs, Inspectors and other staff of Commercial Taxes Department was carried out through power point presentation.
A separate training and interactive session was also held in the Commercial Taxes Department wherein the members and representatives from Chamber of Commerce, various trade and industrial associations participated.
They were apprised about the various aspects of proposed GST bill and its impact on business.
The specific issues relating to trade and industry of J&K were also discussed in the session.
Anoo Malhotra, Additional Commissioner Commercial Taxes (Adm) Jammu, Pankaj Magotra and Arvind Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner (Appeals) and Deepika Kumari, Deputy Commissioner (Audit) were present during the course of session.
Among others present were CA Anil Sharma, Chairman J&K Branch of ICAI, CA Deepak Kapahi, Vice Chairman, CA Shalay Razdan, Secretary, CA Hardeep Aggarwal and CA Geeta Sharma.
It is to mention that ICAI in association with its J&K Branch and Commercial Taxes Department has constituted a task force with an objective to study the impact of implementation of proposed GST Bill on trade and industry of J&K. The task force shall also be shortly submitting its recommendations to J&K Government.
