I&C Deptt gets 24,000 kanals land for Estates

JAMMU, Oct 31: The Industries and Commerce Department said today that they have been transferred 3000 acres of land, which comes out at 24,000 kanals and not 2.4 lakh kanals, for the purpose of creation of new Industrial Estates and expansion and up gradation of already existing Estates to attract investments in Jammu and Kashmir.
It was inadvertently mentioned in a news report publised in today’s edition that Government had transferred 2.4 lakh kanals of land.
According to an official spokesman, the Department has planned creation of land bank of 6000 acres which is equal to 48,000 kanals. While 24,000 kanals of land has been transferred to the Industries and Commerce Department, another 24,000 kanals is awaiting clearance by the Forest Department.
About 16000 kanals of land has been transferred in Jammu division and 8000 kanals in Kashmir division.
“Expansion of Industrial Estates and creation of new Estates is an ongoing process,” the Department said.
