SRINAGAR, June 13: An Indian Administrative Officer (IAS) from Madhya Pradesh and his wife were among four killed and three others, including another IAS and IPS officers, were injured when their vehicle fell into a deep gorge at Khardungla in Leh district of Ladakh region today.
The vehicle skidded off the road and fell into the deep gorge at Khardungla, situated at 18,380 feet above the sea level, about 40 km from Leh on Nobra road resulting in on the spot death of Commissioner-Secretary Dharma Rao (IAS), his wife Vidya Rao, Kumar Singh, also from MP, and local driver Karma Dorji, official sources said.
The injured were identified as Inspector General (Vigilance) Ashok Avasthi, (IPS), his wife Manjuri and another Commission-secretary Shailendra Kumar (IAS).
The injured have been admitted to District hospital at Leh, they said.
They were on a private holiday trip to Ladakh, they added. (UNI)
