IAF draws flak from CAG for not installing strategic missile systems

NEW DELHI: The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has pulled up the Defence Ministry for failing to install strategic missile systems at six designated sites because of the delay in execution of civil works.

In its report on Defence Services, laid in Parliament today, the CAG said the Government had approved the induction of strategic missile in view of the threat perception. The missile systems were to be installed at the six designated sites between 2013 and 2015. 

“But till date, none of the missile systems has been installed. The main reason for the delay in installation of the missile systems procured at Rs 3,619.25-crore from M/s Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) was, delay in execution of civil works at the sites,” the report observed. (AGENCIES)
