LOS ANGELES, Jan 24: Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter has opened up about his arrest for bar brawl and apologised for behaving badly, saying he’s not “perfect”.
Carter was arrested on a misdemeanour battery charge after assaulting a bouncer at Hog’s Breath Saloon in Florida. He and a man named Michael Papayans allegedly punched the bouncer while they were heavily intoxicated.
Police were called and Carter and his friend were taken to Monroe County Detention Center in Key West. He was released the following day on USD 1,500 bail, reported Ace Showbiz.
Carter has now taken to Twitter to address the arrest.
“I am human and at times it can be a struggle to balance a healthy lifestyle. I’m not perfect and for that I am sorry,” he wrote, adding “When we fall we have to get up and keep on walking. I hope you stay by my side and continue to walk with me.”
The 35-year-old singer, who had struggled with drugs and alcohol abuse in the past, is facing a maximum sentence of one year in jail or one year of probation, plus a USD 1,000 fine, if convicted of battery.
His arraignment is set for February 8. (PTI)
