Hyundai rolls out fastest 3 millionth Made-in-India export car

CHENNAI, Jan 30: Car maker Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) today achieved yet another significant milestone with the  roll out of three millionth Made-in-India export car–A ‘Hyundai  Aura’ (export name-GRAND i10) for Colombian market from its  state-of-the-art plant at Sriperumbudur near here.

 

Speaking on the occasion, HMIL Managing Director and CEO  S S Kim said “the fastest Made-in-India three millionth export  roll out is a significant milestone as it showcases the global  success story for brand Hyundai.”

 

 

”We started our export operations in 1999 and created many  milestones.  We thank our all our global customers and overseas  distributors for their trust and support which has helped us reach  this landmark”, he added.

 

 

HMIL began exporting cars in 1999 with first batch of 20 Santro’s  to Nepal and reached the first milestone of exporting 100,000 cars  in four years and ten months in October 2004.

 

In March, 2008 it exported its 500,000th car followed by its 1,000,000th  car and 2,000,000th car in February 2010 and March 2014 respectively.

 

In the last 20 years, Hyundai continued to be the leading exporter of  passenger cars since its inception. In CY 2019, Hyundai exported  181,200 units with 792 customized variants according to country  specific preference and demand.

 

 

With a market share of 26 per cent in CY 2019 to the total exports of  passenger cars from India has made Hyundai a significant contributor  to the Indian automobile industry.

 

 

Currently, Hyundai was exporting 10 trendsetting models namely–ATOS  (Santro), Grand i10, Xcent, Grand i10 (NIOS) and Grand i10 (Aura), Elite  i20, i20 Active, Accent (Verna), Venue and Creta.

 

Globally, Hyundai exports Made-In-India cars to 88 countries in four  continents–Latin America (33 Countries), Africa (28 Countries), Asia  Pacific (26 Countries) and Europe (one).

 

In APAC region, specifically in Saudi Arabia market both Creta and Accent  holds the segment leadership with 40 per cent and 33 per cent market share  respectively.

 

 

In Nepal, Hyundai is the leading brand in overall passenger car market with  market share of 29 per cent.

 

 

In Africa region, specifically in Libya, Hyundai is number one brand holding  80 per cent of market share.
