Hybrid militant, OGW arrested

Srinagar, Aug 23: Security forces today arrested a hybrid militant and an Over Ground Worker (OGW) of Lashkar-e-Toiba in Sopore area of North Kashmir.
An official said that on the basis of specific information regarding movement of 2 suspected militants, joint parties of Police Component Rafiabad, 22 Rashtriya Rifles and 92 CRPF were conducting nakas/checking on multiple simultaneous MVCP Grid at Nowpora Six Way Junction, MRF Chowk, Bahrampora Bridge Sonawani Bridge and at Behrampora Seeloo Bridge.
He said that during the checking of vehicles this evening, the naka party at Behrampora Seeloo bridge observed a suspicious movement of a vehicle towards Seelo in which two persons were boarded and they were asked to stop, but they tried to flee.
“The party assessed the situation and displayed extreme restraint and control in not opening fire. The individuals were tactfully apprehended by the Naka party, “he said.
The official said that on the spot interrogation of the individuals disclosed that they were tasked to deliver a weapon and a hand grenade at Seelu which was planned to be used for targetted killing.
They have been identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar of Pazalpura, Dangiwacha Sopore and Sofi Ishaq Ahmad son of Mohammad Sultan Sofi of Amberpora, Tarzoo, Sopore.
He said that one Pistol, one pistol magazine 8 rounds and one hand grenade were recovered from the possession of Muzaffar Ahmed Dar and one Chinese hand grenade was seized from Sofi Ishaq Ahmad.
A case has been registered and investigations are going on.
In the meantime, security forces today busted a militant hideout in Galibal area of Baramulla district.
Police said that on a tip off, a joint team of police and Army busted a hideout in Galibal.
During the searches, blanket and other logistics were recovered from the hideout.
