SAMBA, Sept 1: The ongoing hunger strike over suspension of Sarore Toll Plaza has ended on the ninth day. Late on Friday night, Deputy Commissioner Samba Abhishek Sharma and SSP Samba Benam Tosh ended the hunger strike by offering sweets to all the protesters.
Late in the evening, DC Samba and SSP Samba reached at the main chowk of Samba and made the agitaters Sugreev Singh Sambyal, Sarpanch Ravinder Singh Lavlu, Sandeep Sambyal, Mohan Singh Sambyal, Councilor Maheshwar Raj and Arun Sambyal Happu end the fast. Some of the leaders sitting on fast at the main chowk Samba met Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and after his assurance, they ended their fast.
One of the protesters Sugreev Singh said that we have had a meeting with Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar who has assured us that within the next five days the alternative route of Tarnah bridge will be made ready.
He said it was also promised that the people of Samba will not have to pay any toll as soon as before.
Further said that the Divisional Commissioner has given assurance that within the next one week, some good decision will be taken in the interest of the people regarding Sarore Toll Plaza.
“If no decision is taken within the next week, a strategy can be made as to how to start the agitation afresh,” he said.
