Human trafficking racket busted, foreign girl rescued

UDHAMPUR, Feb 27: Police today claimed to have busted a human trafficking racket with the arrest of one person and rescued a foreign girl from Tandar, tehsil Chenani.
“On specific inputs about human trafficking, police party from Chenani police station conducted a raid at village Tandar and rescued a teenage foreign girl from the house of one Gulam Ali, son of Noor Ali”, SSP Udhampur Ashkoor Ahmed Wani said.
“Gulam Ali was arrested on the spot and during sustained questioning revealed that he had bought the girl from Miran Sahib, Jammu”, he added.
On his disclosure, police conducted raid in the said area, but the accused manage to flee, he said.
He added that as per the language, the girl might belong to Bangladesh or Burma.
“DySP (DAR) Suram Singh and SHO, Women Cell Udhampur are investigating the case and more arrests are likely to be made in near future”, SSP said.
A case has been registered and manhunt has been launched to arrest the other members of the human trafficking gang, SSP said.
