HRD to look into complaints

Union Minister of State for HRD conceded that his ministry had received complaints from some students of the State studying in various universities and colleges outside the State under Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme that they are charged fee by respective institutions failing which their admission would be cancelled. The HRD Ministry has relaxed the rules that exempt the students of the State from paying the fee. This decision of the HRD Ministry was taken in view of the difficult situation arising out of militancy in the State that has adversely impacted thousands of families. It is a sort of relief to the families concerned. It is magnanimous on the part of the HRD Ministry to have given the students a relief of sorts although we know that there are millions of students in the country who come from families identified as below the poverty line. No such facility is given to them. The Minister has promised that he would move the matters at the HRD Ministry level and ensure that no student with genuine admission in any national educational institutions is charged tuition fee. We believe that the assurance of the Minister will bring solace to the affected families.
