HPCL conducts mock fire drill

SAMBA, Mar 28: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) today conducted a mock fire drill in association with external agencies like fire services, hospitals and mutual aid members like IOCL, at its Bottling Plant (BP) in Bari Brahmana.
During the mock drill, a scenario of the uncontrolled fire was assumed and the entire machinery/equipment to extinguish the same was pressed to action. Three teams comprising of Firefighting, Auxiliary and Rescue members exhibited a synchronized display of efforts to contain the same with the help of state of art technology, safety equipments and auto fire fighting system of the plant.
Fire fighting teams were led by HPCL officers. J&K Fire Services and medical staff of ESIC Hospital also contributed in the drill. The officials of IOCL and SIDCO were also present during the mock drill.
Explaining the importance of conducting the “Mock Fire Drills”, Farooq Hussain Shah, Plant Manager, HPCL, Jammu, said that these drills equip the persons with complete confidence while fighting the actual fire.
He said apart from showing preparedness to meet any eventuality such drills are also aimed at inviting valuable suggestions from the observers for further improvement.
All the mutual aid partners appreciated the fire fighting practices and equipments of HPCL LPG Plant and said that mock exercises are necessary to keep the staff alert and fire fighting machinery in working condition.
