Division Bench of State High Court is hearing a PIL titled Sheikh Mohd Shafi and Another Vs Union of India and others wherein the petitioners are seeking prosecution of the tainted officers under J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and also directions to the General Administration Department to accord sanction for prosecution against the high-ups involved in various scams.
The Division Bench has ordered the Commissioner/Secretary, Housing and Urban Department to immediately shift Secretary J&K Housing Board and DGM from their present positions till the conclusion of the regular departmental enquiry against them.
It appears there are many skeletons in the cupboard of Housing Department. There is also a nexus and the officers against whom allegations are being investigated are trying to influence others and escape the inevitable. What has come to light till now in this case could be only the tip of the iceberg. Further and deeper investigation will reveal more than what meets the eye. We are confident that the case is before the court of law and justice will be done.
