Hotels, clubs served notices by PHE for illegal connections

Jammu, Dec 13: During continued drive against illegal/ un-registered bore wells/commercial as well as domestic water connections, a number of un-registered bore wells falling under the jurisdiction of PHE City Division No. II Jammu, have been identified. “Holding of an Un-registered Bore Well is an offence under Section 167 of the Jammu & Kashmir Water Resources (Regulation & Management) Act. The Notices have been served upon the establishments wherein they have been asked to get their Bore Wells registered with PHE department within 15 days by paying a visit to office of the Chief Engineer, PHE Department Jammu failing which their Bore Wells shall be sealed besides action under the law will be initiated”, an official handout said.
Hotel Kranti, Hotel T.R.G, LIC of India,Vishal Mega Mart, (All near Rail Head Complex), King lodgeTikuta Nagar, NEXA Maruti show Room Green Belt, V-Mart Kunjwani Bye Pass, M/s Royal Farm, Chenab College of Education Langer, Prem Singh Ekta Vihar, Ranjeet College of Education, Bandhu Rakh, Cybernetics school,Bandhu Rakh, Guru Harkrishan Hr. Secondary school Kunjwani, Shanker Hotel Trikuta Nagar, Tourist Hotel Trikuta Nagar, Grand Inn Hotel Trikuta Nagar, Trikuta Apartments, Trikuta Nagar, Royal Nest, Bhawani Nagar, M/s Future bottling Plant Gadigarh, Peaks Auto Jammu Pvt. Ltd. Nanak Nagar were misusing sanctioned Domestic Purpose Water Connection for Commercial Activities.
Besides, un-registered Bore wells have also been reported at a number of places like Amar Singh Club, Kala Kendra, J&K Bank Zonal Office,Excise Deptt., I.Tax Department . Vaishnavi Dham,NABARD Bank Pyt. Bhawan & Agri. University etc. Verification of the same is undertaken and necessary action will follow accordingly, the handout said.
More such concerns with illegal/Un-registered Bore Wells/Commercial as well as Domestic Water Connections Have been Identified and notices are being issued to them also. Besides, number of Govt./ semi-Govt./ private concerns who have failed to clear their outstanding water bills have been identified. Water supply to all such Concerns shall be disconnected after a 15 days notice period, the handout said.
Concerned Public is requested to come forward and clear their outstanding water Bills besides getting illegal/Un-registered Bore Wells and Commercial as well as Domestic Water connections registered with PHE department as holding of an Illegal/Un-Registered Water Connection is an offence under the above mentioned Act which implies for punishment with Imprisonment upto one year or fine upto Rs.10,000 or both, the handout said.
