Hoteliers call on Principal Secy PDD, discuss Power crisis in Katra

KATRA, Feb 14: A delegation of Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra called on Principal Secretary Power Development Department, H Rajesh Prasad and apprised him about the Power crisis in Katra.
The delegation comprised of the Association President Rakesh Wazir, Chairman Shyam Lal Kesar, Sr Vice President Virender Kesar, Vice Presidents Nishant Sharma, Ajay Kotwal, Executive members Vikas Gupta, Sushil Sharma, Neeraj Jamwal etc.
Wazir, while speaking on the occasion, said that due to the importance of Katra being main pilgrim/Tourism hub and main source of economy of J&K, no Power cuts were ever implemented either at Katra Town or enroute Bhawan whereas from last the few days, Katra Town has been put under the ambit of severe scheduled and un scheduled Power cuts and as a result lacs and lacs of visiting pilgrims are facing inconvenience.
Guest Houses, Hotels, Yatra Slip Counters, Railway Station, Bus Stand, Waiting Halls, Paying Guest Houses, Yatra to Vaishnodevi are facing lot of hardships due to power cuts thus creating inconvenience to the vesting pilgrims, he added.
Shyam Lal Kesar said that besides scheduled power cuts, un scheduled power cuts too have become a routine matter in Katra. Keeping in view the importance of Katra Town every effort should be made to have such a Power Infrastructure here wherein no Power crisis may ever happen, he said and appealed that this matter be taken up seriously.
Virender Kesar said that besides removing of the scheduled and un scheduled Power cuts, the need of the hour is the improvement of whole Power infrastructure at Katra so that curtailment free electricity may be ensured. He further emphasized for a complete plan under which complete underground cabling on the pattern of Chandigarh is done in Katra.
Prasad listened to the delegation patiently and assured that sympathetic consideration to each and every point raised in the meeting would be given and curtailment free electricity would be provided to the holy town very soon.
