SRINAGAR, May 16: The Directorate of Tourism Kashmir today imposed a fine of Rs 2.1 lakhs on Hotel Mountview at Pahalgam in district Anantnag for operating without a valid registration certificate.
The hotel, registered under the name of Javid Bashir Burza, has been running its operations illegally, violating the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Registration of Tourist Trade Act.
According to the notice issued by the Directorate, Hotel Mountview failed to renew its registration despite numerous reminders and a previous notice issued on November 25, 2023. “Despite the lapse of almost 13 months and 16 days since the certificate’s expiration, the hotel continues its operations without compliance,” he said.
The Directorate urged the unit holders to renew their registration certificates on due dates to avoid penalties. “We have issued several notices and circulars in local newspapers, directing unit holders to renew their certificates, failing which we are constrained to take action under the Tourist Trade Act,” the notice said.
The notice further warned that if Hotel Mountview fails to renew its registration and pay the fine within seven days, stricter actions will be taken, which may include blacklisting or cancellation of the hotel’s registration.
“You are hereby directed to immediately renew the registration certificate and deposit the above-mentioned fine within a period of seven days from the issuance of this notice,” the order stated.
